The penalties for Driving While Intoxicated in Texas are severe. For a first offense, you are facing a minimum of 72 hours in prison, a maximum fine of $2000.00, and a “surcharge” of $1000.00 for three years. Also, a person guilty of DWI could face additional license suspensions, or the prospect of attending DWI education classes.

A DUI/DWI charge involves two separate proceedings: one affecting your driving record and another one affecting your criminal record. We will defend you in both proceedings. Upon a DWI/DUI arrest, you only have 15 days to request an administrative hearing to try to prevent your driver’s license from being suspended by the Department of Public Safety. If at the hearing it is ordered that your license is suspended, we will work to help you get an occupational license, if you qualify, so you can continue to drive to and from work and for other approved activities.
